Ru Sans

January25

Ru Sans (sushi restaurant) has always been a favorite of ours from when we used to eat meat through our vegetarian/vegan ways and now into the raw vegan phase of our lives. You can’t help but have a good time when you’re there because of the loud techno pop music blaring through the speakers, the friendly and overly excited chefs and host, the free sake and sake bomb chants that fill the room on Friday and Saturday nights.

They have a big selection of vegetarian rolls and you can always combine what you want even if it’s not on the menu (i.e. the Rustin Roll: carrot, avocado and cucumber).

I went to Ru Sans on Friday night with two girlfriends and ordered a kappa roll, avocado roll and a Rustin roll all with no rice. To my surprise they didn’t think twice about my order and before I knew it out came my raw vegan sushi!

Booya!

R. Thomas lunch

January24

R. Thomas makes me so happy!  Today I stopped by and picked up an order of the raw flax seed chips with raw chipotle sauce and 2 side orders of raw hummus.  This morning I packed myself a little lunch box with some carrot sticks, an orange and some raw almonds. They give you such heaping portions at R. Thomas that I’ll have plenty of raw hummus and flax seed chips to take home with me (which I guess was the point of ordering both) !

R. Thomas

January17

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it a thousand times – R. Thomas is AMAZING! They have the most wonderful vegetarian, vegan and raw items on their menu (and some meat dishes for you meat eaters). It’s open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Tables are inside a tent with heaters for the winter and fans/ac for the summer. On your walk from the parking lot to the front door you’re greeted by tens of birds saying hello, goodbye or sometimes nothing at all.

Loren and I frequent R. Thomas a lot and have for years. No matter what level we take our foodie lifestyle, R. Thomas always has something for us.

This evening we split Raw Dinners #1 and 2 and the Raw Apple Pie for dessert. Too bad I didn’t think to take a photo of the meals…they were incredible. We scarfed them down right away! Next time I’ll remember!

Pizza Fusion

January6

Tonight we went to Pizza Fusion for dinner. It’s a new place in Atlanta but there are others scattered across the US. All of their ingredients are organic and most everything in the restaurant (from the tables to the pizza boxes) is made from recycled materials. They have a huge selection of pizza toppings, crusts (multi-grain, gluten free, white) and cheeses (including soy). Most of their appliances are energy saving and even the toilets are water saving ones.

Tuesdays is organic wine night. With a $25 purchase, you get a bottle of house organic wine ($28) for $9.95. We got the Cabernet, an order of multi-grain bread sticks, veggie pizza and a vegan gluten free brownie for dessert. They use whatever is in season for the veggies. Our pizza had tri-color peppers, mushrooms, broccoli and onions. The vegan gluten free brownie feeds two so always order it with a friend.  It was more delicious than any other brownie I’ve ever had!

Cafe Sunflower – Take 2

November2

Loren and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary this weekend! Last night we went to Cafe Sunflower for dinner. Once again we were blown away at how good the food was. We had the stuffed mushrooms for our appetizer, Loren ordered the eggplant lasagna and I had the sesame chicken. Holy crap I need that chicken recipe!! They have a cook book for sale that has all of their recipes in it…I think I’ll put it on my Christmas list!

For dessert we ordered a slice of the peanut butter pie with chocolate crust. All of the desserts there are vegan and look incredible. When you ask for the dessert menu they bring you out a tray of all the different cakes. Check out their menu to see all of the different flavors.

Green Sprout

October27

WOW! I’m an idiot! All this time living at my spot and I had no idea an amazing vegetarian Chinese food restaurant was 2 blocks away! The have a full menu including soy/potato based pork, shrimp, beef and chicken. Loren got the hot and sour soup and the curry chicken and I got wonton soup and house lo mein which featured all the faux meats!

We can’t wait to go back!

Cafe Sunflower

September13

Friday for lunch Loren and I went to Cafe Sunflower. It’s completely vegetarian with some vegan items as well. Its a cool place…they have their wine bottles displayed on the wall, the wait staff is great and very friendly. The food and it’s presentation is incredible! I can’t wait to go back!

Loren ordered the Baked Garden Loaf which was served with mashed potatoes and organic greens. I ordered the Tostada Napoleon which was made with the house veggie chili, organic brown rice, organic corn tortillas and black beans.

For vegetarians and meat eaters alike, I highly recommend this place! They have a separate lunch and dinner menus and are closed in between lunch and dinner time as well so check out the website for the hours before you venture on over.
